Kirt from Nottingham (19/06/08) I used to live with Lisa around 1997. She stored a couple of her pieces in our living room, one was this huge odd shaped thing, It was very weird, When I asked her what on earth it was Lisa said 'It's my womb"
She has come on quite along way since then, no giant wombs though.
I love Blue Bath and yellow sick!
Your stuff is bloody brilliant!
Nice one chuck!
Hope to see you again soon for wine and shenanigans.
- Kirt xx

Ruth Appleton from London (12/07/07) Lisa you are amazingly talented. I had no idea! Such striking, uplifting and translucent colours. I was going to say fantastic but that doesn't capture the impact it made - just brilliant colour, texture and creativity, especially the paintings and sharp, exotic designs! Wonderful! |
Suzie from London, UK (10/07/07) Really love your art, especially- football makes me nervous, good morning and you're late.

jez from hove (23/08/06) Not being a painted-portrait man myself, the paintings don’t do it for me. The photographs however, I feel have depth and present new viewpoints to everyday items, offering new perspectives on that which is often overlooked as mundane. |

Comment at Scene360 (12/07/06) Some sites you open and it is like "BOOM BRILLIANT ARTWORK!" I felt a vibe going into Lisa Selby's site and seeing her paintings. I can sense that she has some inpiration from Lucian Freud's work. |
Comment at Neozine* (12/07/06) This is what I call Fresh*! Fresh idea, fresh theme and approach, cool technique and one can notice that has been improved and quite interesting the way one can sense how the influences were explored to create Fresh*ness. Great work. |
mike upton from pure (12/07/06) Well .. what can I say? Great work - but for me personally your photos are fanatastic. It's all a question of viewpoint. |

David Hillman from London (12/07/06) A thought provoking body of work, clearly demonstrating a great talent for portraiture. I have many questions regarding the psychology of these faces looking down on me, I would perhaps like to see one looking up but Ms Selby I like your style. |
Review at CoolStop (08/07/06) Lisa's oil paintings greet you as you enter the site. There's over a dozen of them and all very good in my opinion. But do check out her photos and daily doodles before you leave. Cool creativity. |
Comment at 1983 (06/07/06) Painter/Illustrator Lisa Selby with some modern dynamic art. |
Alistair McAlley from Somerset (06/07/06) Now this is very exciting to see. Rarely does one stumble across something that can, in complete sincerity and clarity of mind, justify labelling an artist as a sensation. In this case that label is merited. Lisa Selby seems to wear her confidence and conflicting insecurity as a heart on her sleeve, and this is how the images strike so. At her best she has created monstrous figures of beauty (perhaps angelic monsters would be more fitting) evoking a semblance of film-noir. To say this is promising would ridicule the actual skill here. An exhibition cannot be far away surely? |
GreG from Brighton (06/07/06) an enchanting collection, great stuff and keep it up! ;) |
Matt from NYC (06/07/06) This is great stuff! love the paintings |
David from Hove (06/07/06) Lisa, you've created a series of images that would never be content with merely being observed. They demand a response ... and it had better be a good one! Fortunately, that's exactly what they deserve. |
